Driving in cold and rainy weather can be difficult for some drivers, but you don’t have to become a part of a growing numbers of car accident statistics in the metro Atlanta area. Here are a few ways you can take control of your vehicle to help you prevent getting into an accident.
- The only space you can really control when driving is the space in front of you, so make sure you leave plenty of room between you and the car in front of you. If someone rear ends you, you will be less likely to hit the car in front of you as long as you left plenty of space in front of your vehicle.
- Turn on your lights and windshield wipers as you try to steer clear of puddles. If your visibility is really low, turn on your hazard lights. The more people can see you, the less likely they’ll be to hit you.
- Speed limits were created in a perfect weather condition scenario. Don’t think that just because the speed limit is 45 you should have to go that fast in rain and ice. Take your time driving to eliminate having your vehicle get out of control.
Keep these things in mind as drive through rush hour in metro Atlanta, because it’s not fun dealing with a car accident on the side of I-85.
